Declaring with Pride a “Holy Herb”..
To Hindus their traditional practices and the sacred plants and herbs that they use is not only part of their culture or traditions, it’s also part of their religion. As we can already see the west has even made yoga into an INC. and turned something so sacred and traditional for the Hindus into something so commercial. I truly applaud what the Government of India is doing to declare that yoga and ayuvedic are part of the Hindu culture and religion.
But one very important and significant thing must be done for one herb in particular. This plant has been victimize and abused for far too long. It has received an image as a gate-way to other evils but not knowing that this plant is part of other people’s culture and religion. The plant I’m talking about is non other then the ‘Sacred Ganja’. The west has abused ganja and blamed it to be a gate-way drug for heroin and other hard drugs like cocaine. The Indian Government should watch this movie that was made in America called ‘Grass’ then you would know why ganja is a labeled as a drug and a menace.
For us in Asia, there are so many Hindus not in India who don’t know about their religious right as a Hindu and how sacred ganja is for them. Like in Malaysia, the Hindus there don’t even know what even ‘bhang’ lassy is, and any Hindu or anyone else caught with a substantial amount of ganja faces the death penalty. As a result of this many Hindus are hang, where else in Indonesia, it’s Vice President, Jusuf Kallad OK’s the use of marijuana(ganja) in cooking.
All I wish for is that the Government of India and her people declare with pride and honor to the world the sacred, traditional and medicinal use of ganja to the world and by doing so letting Hindus around the world to know just how sacred and holy this plant is to their religion. Even in Europe, countries like Holland and Spain are using ganja as part of a medical breakthrough in treating multiple sclerosis and cancer patients. Like how the Government of India is doing to safeguard yoga and ayuveda, it’s time we stood up tell to the world the importance of ganja to the Hindu religion but also it’s medical properties. It’s time we declare with pride and honor a “Holy Herb”
